Located near the very top of the Kaimai Ranges, Hoatu Kaimua gets to touch the clouds nearly every day!
We are an easy 20 minutes drive from Tauranga and 1 hour to Rotorua and Hamilton. And did we mention that we are just 20 minutes from Hobbiton in Matamata?
Hoatu is set amongst a gorgeous cloud ngahere (bush), green, tall and sweet smelling all year round.
We have our own small waterfall on site including a natural plunge pool which a is great cool off in summertime.
Come unplug from the cares of the world in this peace-filled space.
We absolutely encourage you to grab a torch and wander up to our glow worm grotto once the sun goes down as it is a magical experience. We have a fee pairs of gumboots if you forget yours. And bring a guitar and utilise the firepit in behind the lodge with marshmallows' and a sing along.
In the summertime you may like a wander on the nearby hiking trails, have a relaxing swim in our swimming holes or maybe you would prefer to just lay out in the sunshine. We also have a large selection of lawn games you are welcome to use for a refundable cash deposit.
In the wintertime we recommend curling up in front of our open fireplace, grabbing a boardgame and relaxing with a cuppa. We also have a TV that you can have a movie afternoon with - bring your HDMI cable and a laptop.
